The Hazards of Helicopter Shopping Video
Air Care provides regional healthcare agencies and professionals with rapid, efficient
critical care transport of patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries.
From our base, our fully equipped helicopter is on its way within minutes. A highly
trained and competent staff whose primary goal is safe, cost effective and quality
clinical care for patients in need of our services operates the Air Care state
of the art transport system.
The following medical situations, among others, may require transport via Air
Care's critical care service to the nearest appropriate medical facility: - Patients in severe cardiac or pulmonary crisis
- Multiple trauma
- Spinal cord injury
- High-risk pregnancies
- High-risk pediatric patients
- Children with life-threatening illnesses or injuries
- Limb reattachment or amputation
- Severe burns
Consideration should be given to the mechanism of injury; time and ease with
which the patient was accessed; as well as, time and distance required for the
patient transport. Trauma victims need to be delivered to the regional trauma
center as soon as practicable. Patients with critical injuries resulting in
unstable vital signs require the fastest, most direct route of transport to
a regional care center availing specialized/specialty equipment and personnel.
Emergency personnel should use established procedures to stabilize victims
of severe injury or illness until Air Care arrives at the accident or incident
scene. For hospital-to-hospital transfers, the patient's medical records should
be prepared for the Air Care team when they arrive. Before, during and after
Air Care transport, the Air Care team is available for assistance and consultation.
During the flight, the airborne critical care staff is in constant contact with
the receiving hospital to assure a swift, smooth transition to the next phase
of patient care.
